National Museum of Natural History

Fossils, ecology, and a Mall drop-off

Why groups go

School groups use this Mall museum for fossils, ocean life, and earth science. The building sits on the National Mall, so the hard part is usually the clock, not the mileage: timed entry, lunch, and getting everyone back to the bus.

Steve's Bus Service is not part of the Smithsonian and does not sell admission. Teachers should confirm the museum's own group rules.

Bus drop-off and loading

  • Tell us the school pickup, the arrival window the museum gave you, how long you plan to stay, and the time you must leave.
  • Ask the museum where motorcoaches may load. We will use that instruction in the quote. We do not publish a private loading map.

Washington, DC and Prince George's, Charles, and Montgomery counties are the local area named on this site. Sending a request does not reserve a vehicle.
